Sylvia Plath Research Paper

Sylvia Plath was an American poet known for her novel The Bell Jar, and for her poetry collections The Colossus and Ariel. Plath wrote these poems to go through her mental break down as young female things fell apart, such as her marriage and also struggling with mental illness. This put her in a category as a confessional poet these poems that wound up being the Ariel released after her suicide February 11th. Sylvia paths poetry became her biggest fear her cry for help, her tell all, but her problems consumed her leading to her own suicide. Sylvia’s problems with her husband were his affair with another person. She became embarrassed about it on top of the fact this marriage fell apart in front of her own mother whom she separated from immediately after including everyone else. Sylvia was now her biggest fear a single mother like her own alone with two children, the problems of depression and daddy issues. All of this from a young age with I am positive trust issues ,if you cannot trust your parents then who do you trust. You grow up with depression and you fall into a fairytale relationship and when your first example “daddy” and the fairytale turn into a nightmare all by 20 years old. Of course you are ready to alienate everyone, you write 61 poems that are like “lady Lazarus” and “daddy”. These problems were all her success and purpose in a really screwed up way so they became these writings.

Plath had a difficult life from the beginning she grew to need a lot of help very conflicted on many situations with no one to help her all of the things we have read on her lead to the outcome of her poetry and
