William Golding’s fictional, British novel, Lord of the Flies, presents a character that serves a two-part function as a “scapegoat” and a certain commentary on life. During WWII, a group of British boys are being evacuated via plane when they crash and are stranded on an island without adults. As time progresses, the innate evilness of human nature begins to overcome the savage society of young boys while Piggy, an individual representation of brains without brawn, becomes an outlier as he tries to resist this gradual descent of civilness and ends up shouldering the blame for the wrongdoings of the savage tribe. Up until his untimely death, Piggy is portrayed as the most intellectual and most civil character in the group of stranded boys. Right from the beginning, Piggy realized that “[they] got to do something,” (8) and he recognized the shell Ralph had picked up as a conch.

She grabbed the attention of everyone with her life story and the way her paintings represented what was going on in life. Frida Kahlo mostly painted self-portraits. She had a way of reflecting what was going on in life at that time.
Rosa Parks was a Civil Rights activist before she was arrested for the bus boycott. She was actually preparing for a major youth conference with the NAACP when the arrest happened. Rosa was a very brave girl in her personal life, during the incident, and even after it was all started. She hugely impacted America by standing up for not only herself, but others as well. Rosa Parks was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama February 4, 1913 by her parents Leona Edwards McCauley and James McCauley.
As my Canadian writer, I picked Margaret Atwood to create a Prezi on her history of poetry and her writings. For the reason of she was the first name on the list I recognized. Secondly, when I searched her name, she seems to be interesting to research on, and I am pleased I selected Margaret as my poet. Not to mention I learned an abundance of new information about her and that Margaret Atwood has some incredible poems and short stories. As well as, Margaret has evolved, so hugely from being a student with dreams to momentarily has fulfilled her dreams of pursuing writing.
American author, Sylvia Plath, is best know for her powerful and emotional writing style. Her poems and her highly acclaimed novel, The Bell Jar, have made her one of the most dynamic writers of the 20th century. Her poems clearly illustrate the agony and turmoil that were in her life at the time. Her only novel, The Bell Jar, is a semi-autobiographical account of her life. The novel parallels the turmoil she experienced in her life.

Sylvia Plath was born on October 27, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts to German immigrant, Otto Plath and American-born Aurelia Plath. Plath's parents, fueled by their admiration of education and gifts in the literary world, gave Plath an early start in the venture of becoming an author (Critical Insights 13, 14). However, tragedy struck only nine days after Plath's eighth birthday when her father died of an embolism of the lung. On November 18, 1939, Margaret was born in Ottawa, Canada. Margaret Atwood, a Canadian writer, is known for her incredible novels and poetry. Her works of literature are mainly concentrated on women’s issues and entitlement. “At the age of six, the family moved to northern Ontario because her father was an entomologist” (Magill 86). Northern Ontario has also been featured in many of her works and is known as one of her favorite places to revisit.
In “Initiation,” Sylvia Plath tells the story of a girl, Millicent, and her search for acceptance in the wrong place, and her eventual discovery regarding the importance of individuality. To accomplish this, Plath uses bird imagery, which chronicles Millicent’s transformation into one who values individuality as opposed to conformity. She uses “flock” to describe the sorority and club mentality portrayed in the piece, and “heather birds” to symbolize an individual. However, while these piece is grounded in a young girl’s search for acceptance, as evident in the words “Millicent had waited for acceptance, longer than most,” the piece can also be viewed as a microcosm of society. This is true as, similar to the sorority within the piece, the “select flock”, or the group in which most desire to be within larger-scale society, looks down on those who are “a bit too different,” a phrase which a member of the sorority uses to describe a girl who had not been chosen to join the

From the age of eight until her death, Sylvia Plath struggled with mental illness. Along with frequent therapy visits, she wrote poetry to reflect the many events in her life. She wrote about everything, from the things that brought her great joy to the things that drove her to attempt suicide. One recurring topic of her poems is her father, Otto Plath, who she adored until he died of undiagnosed diabetes when she was eight. This event sparked a lifetime of depression and anger towards her father.
Sylvia Plath is considered to be one of the most significant female poets known not only to Americans but also to the whole world. Her death in 1963, followed by an unfortunate and short life did not end her input and influence inliterature, she became an icon to the female literary society. Sylvia's outstanding style of writing and themes which she portrayed in her works such as death, seeking for an identity or oppression on women in a patriarchal society began the feminist movementin America and changed the role of women. This topic is of a great importance because they way that Sylvia Plath was expressing her feelings and showing her negative view on a patriarchal society and oppression on women was a giant leap in the world of a women's liberation movement.
