The discussion of whether nature versus nurture have often been used to see how one’s personality will be shaped. Many poets experience many hardships that shaped not only their personality but also their writings. Sylvia Plath, an influential poet, revealed her inner demons through many of her poems. These poems stem from her depression and troubling circumstances. These can be shown through a majority of her writings from when she began all the way to the end of her life. Sylvia Plath was born in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts on October 27, 1932. Her parents are Aurelia Plath and Otto Plath, who was also an American author. At the age of eight, Sylvia wrote her first poem Admonition following the death of her father in 1940.
