Others serve food with love; however, Tita serves food with her lustful emotions. All Tita's life she has been extremely emotional, considering she was born in the kitchen, she pours her emotions into the dishes she creates. The author conveys multiple symbols throughout Tita's journey and uses her love for food and waterfall of tears to create a suspensful mood. In the novel, "LIke Water for Chocolate" the author utalizes various symbols like tears and food to enhance the purpose of feminism throughout the story. To begin, Tita being born in the kitchen flowing from a waterfall of tears from her wet, swollen eyes. Tita's sorrow birth fast forwards to her being highly emotional throughout her life. In Tita's life she cries a lot about her wishes to find love and move away from her family. Tita was assigned to bake a wedding cake for her sister. The thought of the wedding created a wave of sadness over Tita because she will never be able to get married. However, while she baked the cake, she continued this feeling and tears would drop in the batter. Once the others ate the cake, everyone felt a sense of loss and lonliness. This is because Tita's emotion she made with the food is so powerful it affects everyone who eats her food. The author utalizes the symbol of food to represent the lonliness of Tita and her only way to express herself is through, what is supposedly, a women's job. The idea of cooking for others because her tradition keeps her from being with someone, enhances the purpose of feminism throughout the novel.
