Insert title here To you and me night is a time of rest, a time of safety, and a time to put all our troubles behind us, for Elie night was feared, his troubles would follow him even through the night. The book night was written by Elie Wiesel in 1956 and is about the hardships that the Jews had to face. What is so significant about night? Why is the book called night? Night and darkness symbolize a world without god’s presence and for elie night, was very dark. The novel night is almost unbearably painful, and certainly beyond criticism, where each night means survival, the one last night, and the memory of night. Night means that there will be a new day, and a new day day means survival, a new day in which there’s new opportunities. The book says “ Night. No one was praying for the night to pass quickly. The stars were but sparks of the immense conflagration that was consuming us.” (pg 21) Each night means that there will be another day, another day in which you don’t know what it will bring. The Jews didn’t know what would happen to them, they didn’t know what path their lives were going to take, and they didn’t know what their future held.
