In the story "The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst The Scarlet Ibis symbolically connects to doodle. Hurst uses symbolism to connect the bird and the boy by explaining the similarities between them. The scarlet color of the ibis symbolizes the red on doodle shirt when he is hunched over by the bush during the storm.(183).The bird also symbolizes doodle because the bird was in the wrong region which meant he was different to that area(179). And even though doodle was born different and was different because he could not walk.
In a book “Among the Hidden” by Margaret Peterson Haddix, symbolism is used to create a powerful feeling with a place or thing. The falcon is a symbol for the destructive power of greed, because the main antagonists in the novel have been working their whole life to achieve wealth, but the falcon seems as though it is unobtainable. The book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about two gangs and their big rivalry. Every once in awhile a few people get jumped by the other gang, but besides that everything was fine, until one night when things go too far. Throughout the book the gangs learn that they are not so different and that they have more in common then they think. The author uses many different symbols that each contain a different purpose. Oh, this movie. This movie, has to be the my least favorite movies I have watched so far. It 's over-complicated, boring, and confusing all in one, the trinity of pretentiousness that the people who give this movie 100% on rotten tomatoes, that means it beats "The Thing" "Cabin in The Woods" "Anomilisa" and one of my favorite shows, "Neon Genisis Evangelion", who of which doesn 't even have a critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. The author’s use of symbolism illustrates Francis’ pride as unwavering but also portrays his character as intimidated when it comes to face the unknown. The use of guns symbolises Francis’ need to be in control but he does not know how to handle intense situations. He wants to be the one shooting and hitting the targets but does not understand the reality of it. When he is finally experiencing the actuality of killing a ferocious animal the story states, “Macomber opened the breech of his rifle and saw he had metal bullets, shut the bolt and put his rifle on safety. He saw his hand was trembling.”
