The title “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter” is symbolism. Throughout the book David has two vices: His job and Photography. David receives a Valentine’s Day and Birthday Present from Norah. Her goal to keep the memory of Phoebe alive. Norah gives David a box with “The memory keeper” (Edwards 88) in white italic letters. The box containing a camera so “he’d capture every moment, so he’d never forget” (Edwards 88). I believe the significance of this title is revealed in that statement. Photography becomes a very important aspect of David’s life and his camera is called “The Memory Keeper”. The book is called “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter” because David daughter, Phoebe, is very significant to this story. His decision to give her up forever altered
