Woosh, the sound of wind makes as it lightly drops peach petal on the of the drummer boy drums. In this story there are many symboles to give extra meaning to the story. Like the blossoms, they symbolize youth; in the story the General compares Joby cheek to the fallen peach blossoms. When Ray Bradbury wrote this story I think he wanted everyone to find a deeper meaning and i’m here to tell you some of them. As the General says passionately to Joby “You’re the heart of the Army.” To me this shows that he really cares about Joby enough to tell him in my opinion that Joby is the most important part of this army, and that he shouldn’t feel like he is not doing a big part in helping them. Truly I believe that Joby was afraid to die while they were battling, but he didn’t know that the General was afraid too. To me I think that he really just wants Joby to know that the drummer boy is one of the reasons that they try so hard to win. …show more content…

In retrospect you would think that he is talking about Joby, but he is he is telling Joby how he could play and what would be his outcome. This part really symbolizes the drums because he is saying that the drums are what really keeps them motivated to keep going.
