The first symbolic dual image behind fire is brutal destructions that show the negative image of the society the fact that fireman in this society control the entire society not normal. Books contain knowledge and ideas that inspire readers to convey independent thoughts and rebellion, which opposes the government’s ideals, and captain Beatty. When the captain visits the home of sick Montag, he expresses an idea about his own perspective to the fire: "Forget them. Burn all, burn everything. Fire is bright and fire is clean” (37). In Beatty’s view, destroying books are solution to eliminate antithetical ideas to the society. When Beatty says “Burn all, burn everything”, he means that fire is the solution to everything. The rebirth and rejuvenation is well represented by Granger’s Phoenix myth. When Montag arrives to the book people’s place and talk with Granger, he tells about the myth of Phoenix to Montag: “But every time he burnt himself up
he sprang out of the ashes, he got himself born all over again”(96). Granger then tells the story of the Phoenix, it just kept making the same mistakes, and so it ended up burning itself over and over again. This symbolizes Montag's society, and how they make mistake after mistake after mistake. It burns to the ground by the fire, the war, but it gives another chance to start over again and try to do not make same mistakes. After that, there is a big pile of mistakes happened, there is a huge pile of wood in analogy. Then, birds go too far away and ends up burring itself to the death. This represents Montag’s society got to their tipping point. Finally, all of wars wipe every people out that destories everything in their society. Also Montag’s house was destroyed by house, but that provided an opportunity that he needed to leave his past and start over
