Which group would you support, rational or barbaric, if isolated on an island? Nine out of ten people will choose barbaric social groups. Because we are used to civilized society. This novel shows civilization, power, and barbaric human nature. Golding conveyed his message in this novel about the dangers of uncontrolled power and the importance of social structure. It explains the most important theme of the novel, including the struggle between evil, civilization, and savagery inherent in human nature. Throughout the novel, various symbols are used to emphasize the themes of power, savagery human nature, and civilization. This essay will look at the three main symbols found in the novel. First, the shell is the main symbol. It represents civilization, democracy, and power. At the beginning of the story, at first, the boys use conch shells to establish rules and order on the island. Therefore, the conch shells become a symbol of civilization and represent the idea that rules and order are needed to function in society. But as the boys become more savagery and violent, the power to pick the conch shell begins to fade away and it is eventually destroyed by Jack and his groups, who are reluctant to think about democracy and order in favor of their violent impulses. The beast is another important symbol. Beasts represent the dark nature of humans. The boys' fear of unknown animals can also be seen as a metaphor for the fear of their savage appearance. The beast itself is not fully defined in this novel, but it shows the dark side of human nature, a primitive instinct that can undermine our collective efforts to build a fair and equitable society. The primitive and savage human nature that exists within all human beings and the boys' fear of animals leads to their madness and violence, showing that the dangers and fears of the mob spirit can lead to irrational and destructive
