The three main symbols of Lord of the Flies
The novel Lord of the Flies has 3 main symbols that William Golding symbolize in the novel. All of these symbols symbolize the humanity of the boys on the island and how they struggle with it and how it helped them . Mankind threw a lot of things at the group of boys and they struggle mentally and physically. But the group of boys find ways to survive through the harsh environment of the island. In the novel “Lord Of The Flies”, the author William Golding use the conch shell to symbolize leadership, fire to symbolize survival and the beast to emphasize the fear of the unknown.

The conch shell is the first thing that they find and it helped out the boys by calling meetings.
This is one of the most useful tools that the boys discover.

The author William Golding use Piggy’s glasses to emphasize his intelligence and to think.
The boys on the island use piggy’s glasses to help them survive.
In chapter 2 (Fire on the mountains), Jack said “His specs – use them as burning glasses!”
This explains that they use Piggy’s glasses to helped them survive and build a fire.
If it wasn’t for piggy’s glasses, the boys would have a hard time surviving on the island.
Technology helped them survived even when they had little to no technology.

The third and final main symbolism of Lord of the Flies is the beast.The beast symbolizes as the fear of the unknown .
The beast can be referred to as many things.One of it is the dead parachutist that the boys found after the storm and the internal conflict the boys faced while on the island.
