The thing people call savagery still lives to this day in disguises such as terrorists, serial killers, and many more people that act in a defective way. Golding believed that anyone is capable of becoming a Nazi, explaining it in the book “Lord of The Flies” that when people are given circumstances and time they can become a Nazi. Golding revels many different symbols such as the Beast, the Face Paint, Roger, and Hunting. Two symbols that Golding emphasizes on are the Beast and the Face Paint. The Beast is the evil within that everyone contains deep inside of them. The Beast enhances the evil to come out and control your thoughts. It also lets you do unconstructive acts without considering if it was the civilized thing to do. Similarly to the Beast, there was face paint to hide their human nature. Roger in a way is the defect in mankind. Roger represents the way you can act when the evil within you comes out. Roger has the ability to do uncivilized things for the fun of it and without having any thoughts about what he just did. Just like Roger, Hunting comes into play giving everyone a want to kill. Hunting exemplifies the way people will kill for no reason, over time the hunt starts changing from a need into a want. The act of hunting will start to consume you and may end up controlling your mind. These symbols unravel the theme of mistakes in human nature. When people are given a circumstance and time they may end up losing their civilized ways. People start to change over time if things are not working in their favor.
