Have you ever thought of how it would be to have a plane crash and be deserted for more than 40 days? Well neither did Louie Zamperini, until it happened. Louis Zamperini never thought that he would be lost at seas but when his B-24 crashed down in the pacific that's just what happened. Though his whole life he has been all sorts of things, rebellious, determined, courageous, and more. Louie Zamperini, from the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand shows the characteristic traits of rebellious and determined through the thing that he does in this book.
For example, according to Hillenbrand, most of the air force deaths were indeed do to training accidents and the obsolete tracking systems inside the aircraft. The B-24, verified by the US air force, was based solely putting out damage, than to be saved. The later radios and radar tracking devices were a huge benefit in saving people’s lives, but were too late for Zamperini. From the textbook, the Japanese were listed as responsible of the rape of Nanking, which also corroborates with Unbroken. A further example of the historical accuracy of the book is the through description of Zamperini’s life abroad and what happened during the war.
They told and retold stories… Phil sang church hymns; Louie taught the other two the lyrics to “White Christmas”(page 152-153). This excerpt from Unbroken shows how Louie’s perseverance to survive had kept the majority of what remained of his crew members sane and hopeful. This proves my thesis statement because it proves that Louie was a very diligent man who had believed that he had a long life ahead of him if he were to just overcome these hard and extremely difficult times. To conclude, Louie had the tenacity and had intended to keep living
“Dignity is as essential to human life as water, food, and oxygen. The stubborn retention of it, even in the face of extreme physical hardship, can hold a man 's soul in his body long past the point when the body should have surrendered it” (Hillenbrand 189). In the novel Unbroken, written by Laura Hillenbrand, Louis “Louie” Zamperini goes through several life-threatening experiences. After being a troublemaker as a child, and an Olympic athlete, Louie straps up his boots and becomes a bombardier for the Army Air Corps. After a traumatizing crash and a forty-six day survival at sea, Louie is taken captive by Japanese officials.
The Olympics track champion Gail Devers once said, “Sometimes we fall, sometimes we stumble, but we can’t stay down. We can’t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn’t think we could be that strong”. In the nonfiction book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, Louis Zamperini showed his bravery and proved Devers’ words when he defiantly stood against his captors at the POW camps in Japan. As a boy, Louie often misbehaved; in fact, he became known as the town menace.
Through her use of a changing narrative perspective, Margaret Laurence creates a contrast in character development. Laurence shows the reader the male protagonist of the story, Chris, through the eyes of a child first, then of an adolescent, and finally through an adult’s eyes. At the beginning of “Horses of the Night,” the narrator, Vanessa notices that Chris looks completely oblivious towards Vanessa’s Grandfather’s belligerence, as he is displaying “no sign of feeling anything.” This is the first sign Laurence provides about Chris escaping in order to cope with reality. Next, when Vanessa visits Shallow Creek she comes to a realization that most of the stories Chris has shared with her about the farm, only exists “in some other dimension.”

He was drafted during World War II . During the war, his plane crashed in the middle of the ocean and he was stranded with little resources to survive. This book follows his incredible story battling starvation and abuse in Prisoner of War camps (POW).
Louie Zamperini and Commander John Fitzgerald show strength and resolution in the face of adversity. For example, when Louie’s plane crashed and the men were on the raft, Laura Hillenbrand wrote, “Louie was determined to keep himself and the others lucid”(114). During their journey on the rafts, Louie tried to keep Phil, Mac and himself hopeful in a seemingly hopeless situation. He tried to distract them from hunger and troubling thoughts by singing songs and talking about comforting memories of the past. Commander John Fitzgerald demonstrated his fortitude in Ofuna.
How do money and power affect relationships? Is it possible to have a relationship that is not affected by social class or status? Relationships are complicated. Life is not perfect. People make mistakes.
