People in the world are show sympathy when others know what they are going through. Even the people that have unlikeable personalities are understood by others around them. These kinds of humans go through many hardships like growing up without a parent or abusive homes. Also people in the world have to suffer the consequences of false rumors and hide in their homes. Mayella Ewell has not grown up with a mother and her father abuses her at home. Bob ewell drinks and beats his daughter and she is shaped into being a rude and lonely person. Boo Radley is misjudged by the wheel town for being a crazy kid who stabbed his father. In reality he's a good person just shy and unwanting of attention. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee depicts that unlikable characters are given sympathy to show that when people come from a long line of hardships others feel an understanding towards them.

Mayella Ewell did not grow up with a mother, only a father who drinks and beats her. If she grew up in a different way her life could have turned out easier. If Bob Ewell had not been born into this lifestyle he would be a big drinker who hits his kids. Perhaps if the rumors of Arthur Radley did not exist he could live a normal life and not fear leaving his own home. All around the world people have their own issues and problems which they find ways to deal with. There are people who drink, abuse and are just plain rude to everyone. Others have to put up with nasty things people make up about them and others have to pretend to be strong when someone they love abuses them. These people deserve the sympathy they get even though they are very disliked because of their bad
