The author of the book The Outsiders was S.E. Hinton. She didn't want to go by her actual name because she didn't think that people would read it if a girl wrote it. The book was about the story of a kid named Ponyboy Curtis and his gang called the Greasers. The Greasers are the poor hood kids of the 60’s. They had this rival gang named the Socs. The Socs are the rich, spoiled, and popular people of 60’s. The main concept of the book is that they are fighting to stay out of each other's land. Pony had to go through some horrible events. Like two of his closest friends dying Johnny and Dally. He also was always in a fight with his brother/parental guardian. On top of that his parents died when he was really young. So Pony and Johnny jumped out and ran to help the little kids. There was this fat teacher there he didn’t want to go in because he probably wouldn’t fit. So when Pony and Johnny went in the church Dally followed them. They got all of the kids out. Pony got out but Johnny didn’t. Johnny got 3rd degree burns. After the went to the hospital for all of their burns and injuries. They went home and Two-Bit started to eat chocolate cake in front mickey mouse and I don't really understand that. Pony went back to the and told Johnny that they were named heros. In the book the hospital looked like an everyday technology filled hospital in my head. But in the movie it was what it would look like back in the 1960’s but that was when the book and movie timeline. The whole gang was going to fight the Socs like a rumble. The Greasers were fighting for the Socs to stay out of there area. It didn’t really say what the socs were fighting for. Darry and one of his old football friends were like the leaders in the book and the movie. Paul was his name and Paul though the first punch. Then everything went from there. The Greasers ended up winning and when Pony and Dally went to tell Johnny about the good news he died on the
