“Which is not much more than just a caboodle of houses roosting in a green spot alongside the Ohio River.” (Creech Pg.1) This explains how Sal the protagonist of the book “Walk Two Moons” describes where she lives. In the novel “Walk Two Moons” by Sharon Creech, Sal the main character, in the beginning gets an offer to go to see her mother but she refuses the offer, yet she gets forced to go she still argues against them but in the end finally accepts the offer, going on the journey Sal finds out about her mother ,and grandmothers death and much more. Secondly, the setting of Bybanks achieves lots of importance because Sal had lived there for most of her life and adjusts to that environment. Creech states that “I have lived most my thirteen years in Bybanks”(Creech Pg.1) If someone has lived in a specific place for thirteen years they would have adopted to that environment. It states “We’re back in Bybanks now...Gram is buried in the aspen grove where she and gramps were married.”(Creech Pg.261Gram, Gramps, and Sal show lots of love to each other so Sal, and Gramps probably would bury her in a important place like Bybanks, Bybanks also helps Sal because it helps her release her inner thoughts and feelings. Creech wrote “Yesterday on the sugar maple I realised about three things I was jealous about.” (Creech Pg.264) Sal tries to say that the setting of Bybanks helps her release her inner thoughts and feelings. It says “I described the aspen grove where she was buried and told him about the river nearby.”(Creech Pg.261) If she tells him about the river nearby and gives no reason for it that proves it must show importance in some way.
