In the story, Beowulf, translated by Burton Raffel a warrior, Beowulf, from the Geats comes to the rescue of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes whose land is being attacked by a monster, Grendel. Beowulf succeeds and defeats Grendel, however, Beowulf battle is not finished, because Grendel 's mother now wants to get revenge for her son. Beowulf kills Grendel’s mother, and after this victory, Beowulf returns home to the Geats. Fifty years pass and Beowulf becomes the king of the Geats, but there is one final battle for the brave hero. There is a dragon that plagues his people because of stolen treasure, now Beowulf has to defend his people. He goes to the dragon and begins to fight, the dragon starts to overcome Beowulf’s strength, but with the help of Wiglaf, Beowulf defeats the monster, in the process, Beowulf receives fatal wounds and dies a hero. The character Beowulf has endured for so long because he is such a courageous, kind hearted, and loyal warrior.

Beowulf is similar to the Knights of the Round Table because like them Beowulf is loyal to his lord, and brave. He is also like Hercules because they both have inhuman strength and they do not back down from a fight. Although Beowulf is like these heroes he also has some differences. Beowulf is different from the Knights of the Round Table because they do not have all the strength that Beowulf has, and they do not fight such gruesome monsters instead they fight in battles and wars.
