To what extent does the cliché “Eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” actually go? This saying can actually get out of hand. “You killed my mom, so I’m going to kill yours?” “You destroyed my country, so I’m going to bomb yours?” “You kidnapped my daughter so now I’m going to kidnap yours?” Even worse, “You raped and murdered my sister, so I’m deciding to kill you by lethal injection?” Capital punishment is actually a life or death issue. An old man walking home, and getting caught in the middle of a shoot out in a bad neighborhood. A young mother robbed and killed just for a wallet that contained twenty dollars. Everybody belongs to someone and everyone is loved. When people go missing or are found dead, this can change families in so many ways unimaginable. It is one of those things that are assumed to “happen to other people”, but a death or disappearance can turn family dynamics upside down. When evidence and clues point to a specific individual who might have committed the horrendous act, those who are related to their dead or missing love one can actually go crazy or even lose their mind. There is so much hatred, anger and disgust that is aimed towards that person. Killing them is just an easy way out. Families might believe that getting rid of this individual might help them in the long run but it will not.
