The question of youth development may seem like an extremely new subject, but it really isn’t. Over 50 years ago people pondered how rock and roll affected teenagers negatively or positively. This question has moved from music movies, from movies to television, and from television now onto something we can’t really describe. What we have in this age is a complete connection between a teenager’s body or mind and the technology that they possess. Technology has become so prevalent that even the people who don’t have much money can still provide their household with technology. The endgame of the argument comes down to if the owner of the device is mentally prepared to take the “drive”. In “drive” hides a deeper meaning. Maybe the pressure of a social interaction possibly turning out negative is what motivates a text to replace this form of a “drive”. Many teens, and adults, enjoy the illusion of anonymity, safety, and control that comes with owning a technological device. If a teenager is given one of these devices at the age of 10 or lower, then it would be no surprise to anyone if they grew up with social issues. They haven’t been prepared for the anonymity to go away, they haven’t been prepared for the safety to go away, and they absolutely haven’t been prepared for control to go away. Once the device is gone and these factors are removed, if the subject has not been used to these factors being gone, the social issues become apparent. However that is a fault of parenting issues, not technological issues. The overwhelming amount of social interaction that is achieved from technology is enough on its own; not to mention the amount of so desired face-to-face interactions that simply wouldn’t happen in teens without these devices, and the subconscious,cognitive effects on a mind - especially an impressionable and ready to grow mind - are more than desirable, they are quintessential to developing a healthy
