My time at Texas A&M University has been the toughest, most stressful, yet rewarding time during my educational career. I can honestly say that deciding to attend TAMU has been one of the decisions of utmost importance in my career because it has helped me reevaluate my goals and showed me the skills and knowledge needed to achieve them. My goal, since the day I decided to study Aerospace Engineering, is to take part in the advancement of space exploration, but I did not know much about how to attain this goal. I thought it would be as simple as obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree and finding work within a company that develops astronautical technology. For some individuals, this may be it; but being in the Aerospace Department at TAMU has showed …show more content…
Before completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to do research within TAMU and internships that will help me develop the skills needed to achieve my goal. I have yet to complete either internships or research while at TAMU. However, I have completed research studies at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, TX. During this time, I was in charge of developing a MATLAB program that would classify human intestinal samples as either healthy or diseased with Ulcerative Colitis. Although this research was out of my interest, I found it extremely useful as it allowed me to improve my MATLAB skills and showed me the environment of a research project. Furthermore, I had the opportunity of participating in a summer STEM program where my team and I had three weeks to create and adapt an RC toy car to function using a combination of hydroelectric and photovoltaic power. This experience allowed me to put my engineering skills to the test, as it required knowledge of electronics, physics, differential equations, structural analysis, as well as fabrication and team development
