What is a model supposed to look like? How much should he or she weigh? Is it a matter of societal norms or health? People make up their minds about who you are before you even say one word to them. Based on your appearance, they decide whether you are going to be friend or foe. If we can judge each that quickly, with so little information, what chance did we have? Modelling. Acting. Designing. With these professions, are you setting a high bar for beauty, or are you enabling a fatal life-style? Should you tell people that being overweight is okay, or should you explain how many health problems obesity can lead to? Either way, you are going to have people who disagree. You cannot make everyone happy. Tabby Kemp is a plus-sized model. At 336 pounds, she is not the what one would immediately picture when thinking of a model. Although she is bigger than average, she isn’t letting it stop her. Tabby has made thousands of dollars by modelling for pictures and advertisements. According to her, the reasons she has been so successful within her career has little to do with what is being pictured, and more to do with who is buying them. There is a demographic of men who prefer women who are overweight, and find them to be sexier than someone who may weigh less. Making fun of someone for being elderly is kind of a moot point, as one day we will all grow old.
