ounded in 1930 by John Chilean, Take it Ez Co.’s roots are humble. Starting as a small tea stand in Mississauga by the name of Chillie’s Tea, John would market his tea to the weary factory workers as they came home for the night. John perfected his special blend of teas and natural relaxants to help relieve the stress of a hard day’s work. “Everyone deserves to fully relax and recover after work” was his motto, and slowly he built up enough income to establish his own shop in 1935. In 1970, the company had spread to multiple shops across Canada, and the name was changed to Take It Ez co. The shops began to decline, however, with Tim Horton’s becoming a more potent threat. In order to compete, Take It Ez co. adapted and re-invented itself.
