“‘I always find the fish. Always!’” Captain Billy Tyne tries to convince others that he can bring in the biggest catch of all, at the same time as anyone would convince others that this film is an action/adventure film. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, The Perfect Storm belongs in the action/adventure genre due to the film’s qualities such as having a natural disaster, a male protagonist portrayed by an actor specialized in the genre, and a hero fighting against insurmountable odds. Being an action/adventure film, along with having the word “storm” in the name, The Perfect Storm contains a very large natural disaster. Captain Billy Tyne, played by George Clooney, is the male protagonist, and he is a very strong minded individual. He acts as if he is in the military, although, he actually works on a ship catching fish. He does not let anyone take advantage of him, especially not Bob Brown, the owner of the captain's boat, the Andrea Gail. George Clooney played the character perfectly, being that he has been in many other action/adventure films other than The Perfect Storm. George Clooney has been in productions such as Gravity (2013), The Thin Red Line (1998), and Batman & Robin (1997). In all of these action or adventure films, he plays the strong male protagonist, which is why he is the perfect actor to be chosen for his captain role in The Perfect Storm. His character, Captain Billy Tyne, takes his crew on a journey to Flemish Cap, where they can bring in the biggest load of fish Bob Brown has ever seen, and make more than enough money for it. His strong and stubborn physique kept his crew from fighting him, and eventually lead them all to become manlier in the process as they attempted to make their way back home safely even with the ginormous storm in their way. His character, no matter the challenges he faced, stayed strong throughout, and he eventually sunk with his ship even when he had the choice to escape. With the strong male protagonist portrayed by an action/adventure actor, The Perfect Storm fully qualifies as an action/adventure
