Taking a Risk in the Sporting Industry
When is enough, enough? When does one simply realize that the amount of money they’re making is insanely ridiculous? Well, in a country that once was known for it’s symbolic “American Dream,” slogan, the attitude towards money and earning a decent salary isn’t on the mind of America youth. In fact, in this new generation of youth, the “American Dream” is to get rich... and get rich quick. Go ahead, gamble with stocks and lottery tickets, or perhaps even try your hand at something just as successful as stocks and lotteries. Try becoming a professional athlete. Todays professional athletes are portrayed as super natural humans, with their combination of speed, agility, awareness, and strength, and in a world that is filled with role models such as music artistes, Kanye West and Jay-Z, and actors like. Channing Tatum, Eddie Murphy, or Chris Rock, there is no industry that compares to that of sports. Millions of children worldwide dream of becoming some sort of a professional athlete. Whether it’s a baseball, soccer, basketball, or football, etc., kids want to make it big in the sporting world. “Why?” you may be wondering. Money is why. Today, this amount of money is incredibly absurd. This sum of money is overwhelming for a large chunk of those who reside here in the United States. Have we come so far in sports as a country, to the point where sporting organizations are willing to look generations into the future? I believe so. By doing so, team organizations are willing to not only think about the life and health of players like John Wall, but also to an extent, his great
