It’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart ,and a pretty soul.”( Michael Stutman) In this essay, “Taking Flight” is written by Michaela DePrince with Elaine DePrince. “Romeo and Juliet” is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, they are both the concerns of the essay. “Taking Flight” is an extraordinary orphan girl called Mabinty who danced her way from war in Sierra Leone to ballet stardom. “Romeo and Juliet” two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile by their feuding families. Both of them are being immature, unstabilized, and inferior as they become older through the novel. In “Taking flight” Mabinty Bangura is born as pretty girl that adore her parents, but living in a war-torn Sierra Leone. She make fun of her tribe due to her skin pigment condition. She had a cast-out name“leopard.” Mabinty father is demise down in the diamond mines where he works. So Mabinty and her mother become part of her uncle’s family. Her Uncle Abdullah was such a bad guy. After Mabinty father died, her mother takes ill, rather than getting care for her, her uncle lets her die. After some days Uncle Abdullah took Mabinty to an orphanage. Mabinty life was horrible. In “Romeo and Juliet” , Juliet’s life is different from mabinty’s life. Juliet mostly have everything she need money, servants, nurses, and parents. Juliet has shaped herself to become a whole different character through the play. They both have independent life, and build their own goals. Mabinty from the time she had born, she is attentive to be educated, unique, and a famous dancer. Mabinty’s parents was always supporting her and trying to get her money for education, but her Uncle Abdullah would always stand and say she doesn’t have to be educated, She should be like other girls cooking, cleaning and taking care for children. Mabinty was always insane. Considering to her life now, it’s very hard for her to make what she want. After Mabinty’s both parents are died, and Uncle Abdullah took her to the orphanage. Mabinty at the orphanage thinked much and said that she will not be stop building her goal, and she will make her parents proud of her. Mabinty was always encouraged by good people, she would always respect everyone. Mabinty’s teachers at the orphanage would always tell her what to do and teach her many things. Later on, Some American people came to the orphanage to take with them some children to America and Mabinty was excited, because this is a big opportunity for her to build her goals and be famous. Mabinty was chosen from these people, she was very happy. After months and Mabinty arrived there, she have putten with an American family in Philadelphia who have been adopted her. They know everything about mabinty and her goals and they supported her.
