In the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, It doesn’t matter if someone is ugly or if they are pretty; treat people the same it doesn’t matter how they look. On page 6, the author Scott Westerfeld said "Of course, Tally was nothing here. Worse, she was ugly. But she hoped Peris wouldn’t see it that was. Wouldn't see her that way." People should understand that it doesn’t matter what you look like, just be yourself you don’t have to change for anyone. This sentence gives an example of someone thinking they may not look good enough for someone else, because Tally is ugly but doesn’t want her friend Peris wouldn’t see her that way. In my quote it shows that looking pretty is important because it shows the pretty's making fun of tally because she looks different than them and is wearing a mask because of it. Page 21 in the book Uglies kids from pretty town make fun of Tally by the way she looks by when she is wearing the mask and it makes her uncomfortable by them saying, "Who's that?" "What's she wearing?" "Hey, you! This party was a white tie!" "Look at her face…" The kids suggestion to Tally is that she takes the mask off because it is not a part of the party but if Tally took the mask off it would make her feel insecure and get in trouble for not being in her town. On the back of the book Uglies, Tally, one of the main characters, is wanting to become pretty but she is given a choice that could change her forever. "When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world -and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally a choice: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. Tally's choice will change her world forever…" Tally is wanting to be
