“The truth is like a sun. You can shut it out for a little, but it ain’t goin’ away,” Elvis Presley, a famous musician once said. Erik Fisher, Paul's brother, in the book Tangerine, by Edward Bloor, has been an untruthful person ever since he was little. Erik’s choices impact Paul by causing him to despise Erik,causing Paul to abhor his appearance, and ruining Pauls relationships with his friends. Overtime Paul despises Erik more and more every day because of the problems he has caused in his life. The day that Mike Costello, a football player at lake windsor downs, died, Erik and Arthur went into Paul’s backyard and laughed hysterically. While Paul was in his house looking at them, he felt disgust (Bloor 52) Paul loathes his appearance because of what Erik did to him when he was little. Paul talks about his glasses, referring to them as coke-bottles. Luis Cruz was a friend of everybody that worked or has been to the “Tomas Cruz tangerine groves.” He helped and cared for everybody, but like most people he hated Erik Fisher. One afternoon, Luis Cruz got out of his truck after a Lake windsor high football practice. He saw Erik and began taunting him, making Erik look like a fool. Arthur couldn’t take it anymore, he dug his hand into his bag, pulled out something short and black, swung his arm and struck Luis Cruz on his head (210-212). Tino and Victor found out that Erik told Arthur to hit Luis.So they went to the ceremony for Mike Costello. The football players were being called up, but when Erik was called, Tino and Victor got out of their seats, walked up to the stage, and beat up Erik and Arthur.
