Tangerine Constructed Response In the book “Tangerine” the main character, Paul Fisher, shares many differences and similarities to his mother, Mrs. Fisher. They sometimes show a different way of looking at things and they, at times, share the same reaction. An example of a difference would be, “Today she said, “Look at the mailbox on that Tudor. That’s not a Tudor-style mailbox.” I said, Lighten up, Mom. “Don’t tell me to lighten up.” (Page 43). By saying this, Paul presents his thoughts on the topic. The words “Lighten up” show the mailbox’s little importance to him. Instead of commenting on the mailbox he directs his statement to his mom. This shows that he and his mother think differently, seeing as his mother reacted with such a serious
