Is voicing a personal opinion or a thought considered racism? One’s belief makes them feel offended about a particular thing or topic. “Campus Racism” by Nikki Giovanni and “Kids, you can’t read That Book!” by Tara E. Ketch are the pieces which touch on similar topics with different styles. There are three subjects I want to discuss about these writings which as follows Racism, Discrimination and Beliefs among people. They do not hold the same meaning in these writings. Racism is everywhere but not visible. Some folks are outrageous tend to say things upfront. They face the outcome of their depreciate use of language against others. For example, this question asked by a teacher in the piece Campus Racism,“Can you give us the Black perspective on Toni Morrison … others?” This attacks one individual in classroom setting. Why would a teacher ask something like this? Not all blacks are same. They all are different and they all have different point of views. I did not feel comfortable when I was reading these questions. People are ignorant about others’ culture and lifestyle. Everyone in today’s generation is judgemental. If the schools do not teach the right education then the future is doomed. The young generation is our future. The kids should learn about society but at a certain age when they can fully intake the information. As they grow up, they should enough educated along the way to be open-minded adults which will make a great difference. No one should face discrimination. Our race is ascribed status which we can not change which makes every individual
