The system allows the company to improve the quality of the products that are available to the customers through an efficient supply chain network as well as the reduced price on products. The company has gone green through the implementation of strategies that are environmentally friendly that include creation of as minimum waste as possible, use of renewable energy for its operations, and the sale of items or products that fulfil and sustain the Target Corporation resources and the environment. All these have been achieved through improving truck miles per gallon, order optimization, as well as the efficient consolidation network. Through the order optimization, Target Corporation has ensured that the ships that the company products are aligned with the organization’s distribution centers to reduce the time required for the transportation of the products. With proper coordination, it is ensured that the shipment of products being delivered to the distribution centers follow the route that is less challenging and with a short distance. The use of shipment optimization has helped to ensure that there is an improvement with regards to the way the boxes that contain the company products are packed in the trucks. The system allows for more boxes to be carried and transported by each truck.
