Targeting The Spanish Speaking Community In Los Angeles

Los Angeles has a population of 3.9 million residents. As a large diverse city, advertising plays an enormous role. Being able to target the right communities actually had a great impact. As there various neighborhoods located in Los Angeles, if you were to drive around all the various neighborhoods you would see how differently they are advertised. In my case, my location is south of downtown Los Angeles. It is actually a diverse Spanish speaking community. Driving down one of the main streets known to my community you will see various ads, and many will be in Spanish. Being able to target the Spanish speaking population. Down my neighborhood, you can’t go two blocks without seeing some type of ad. I chose to look into the lack of healthy eating lifestyles. It seems to me that every other ad is on a fast food chain restaurant. These ads are all over the city, but I feel that they have a huge impact in my community. The ads are even translated in Spanish to make sure the Spanish speaking community knows exactly what they are advertising. I sometimes believe that they don’t need to translate anything because everyone knows exactly what they are selling. However, I drove around my community and I was unable to find a billboard advertising healthy eating habits.

The fast food chains, target everyone. For example, they target me in a different way they target my parents. I am always busy and running late like most of the population in Los Angeles, I am a victim of these types of restaurants because of their fast service options. I can literally be in and out with my food in three minutes. As if I were to go to a “healthy” restaurant I would have to go out of my way and make sure I have time to
