Tartuffe’s character reminds me of the fallen religious leader and American televangelist, Jim Bakker. He too was exposed for playing church because he was more committed to making others think he was a devout Christian. Jim Bakker was a deceiver, and he pretended to love and obey the gospel however he was cunning. He cheated on his wife Tammy Faye Bakker with multiple women, and he stole millions from his congregation. The Bible tells us, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open (Luke 8:17 NIV)”. I believe God allows us to correct and repent of our wrongdoings before he makes known our hidden agendas. It is when we do not repent and take heed to his word
