Tattoos are permanent markings in the skin made by way of ink and needles. People get tattoos to represent something important to them or to express themselves through art. In the 21st century tattoos are the most popular factor of growing up. Teenagers look forward to growing up just to get a tattoo. Gangs, deaths, beliefs all have a contribution to reasons behind why people get tattoos. People were judged for having tattoos regardless of the meanings behind them. A lot of places even banned tattooing due to the fact that they thought tattooing was morally wrong and a health risk. Most religious elders felt as though that marking up your body was against religious beliefs and shouldn’t be acceptable. However, tattoos have different meanings in different countries. Japan started using tattoos to mark criminals so that they could identify how many crimes the person had committed. In Greece they used tattoos in order to know the rankings of the spies and communicate with them. In Japan only high class and middle class people had tattoos to complement their royal outfits.
