For as long as we can remember, gender inequality has been around for a long time. Gender roles have been essential in many cultures, shaping beliefs and practices. The assumption that men and women naturally have different traits was first frequently viewed skeptically in the western culture of the twenty-first century. Classical ideas, Christian ideology, and modern science and medicine all contributed to the development of gender difference theories. Men and women were believed to inhabit bodies with differing physical compositions and to have intrinsically different traits and virtues. Taylor Swift then released a music video the following year, shocking many fans worldwide. By publishing this song, Taylor Swift was conveying her message to primarily men and women who have experienced the harsh criticism of men. Throughout the music video, we can see that Taylor Swift established her message by taking on an altering viewpoint by dressing up as a man. Swift’s underlying claim throughout the video is that she is “Wondering if I'd get there quicker/ If I was a man” (Swift). The actor Leonardo Dicaprio, spotted vacationing in locations like Saint-Tropez with younger models, was the subject of this allusion. She underlines how successful men like Leonardo Dicaprio can get away with doing things.
