Tchaikovsky Swan Lake Essay

On November 9, 2004, the Utah Symphony released a CD named Tchaikovsky Swan Lake. This piece was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and was conducted by Maurice Abravanel. This CD contains many different pieces. Each one has its own story to tell but connect with the rest of the stories. The same kind of tone or rhythms can be found in each of the pieces. Abravanel made sure to have the symphony play each note with such precision to create the various imagines of the characters in the story. As each song was played, the characters were vivid in one 's imagination, except for one song the images were clearly defined and easy to follow. Here are some of my personal favorite pieces. Similar to the first song, this segment is composed of strings will little bass. As the story unfolds, the picture pained is that of two children whom are just playing around while there is no adult supervision. As the notes play a clash of strings with different pitches, the audience can get an idea that like all the kids around, these two are up to no good. Just like with any choice there is a consequence, lucky this unfold among the children therefore there is no big twist leading the adults the the mess they have created. The notes only create little variations to the pitched created deeper and higher pitched indicating the small consequences. As this slice of music plays along, there is an emphases in the bass added directing the picture to a negative side effect. After all the adults did find out what these two were up to. The dramatic change in tone leads the imagination to conclude that the children messed up pretty badly. There is more brass and deeper toned strings. Just like any other story, even with this type of trouble everything seems to come out fine. The brass instruments and deeper bass strings start to subside creating the space for the higher pitched strings to bloom once again. As these instruments bloom there is a strong connection that the children are back to being curious and trouble makers. This is the end for this
