• School Governors School Governors consist of 10 to 12 people. Generally made up of 1 parent governor, 1 staff governor, community governors and a Local Authority governor. They are responsible for the running of a school, they will discuss short term and long Term aims and objectives, set targets and review the progress of the school. They will look at policies and also adopt new policies if necessary. • SENCO The SENCO has a responsibility for the children who have a special educational need. They will liase with parents and relevant outside professionals, for example, speech and language therapists, educational psycologists and the Local Authority. The SENCO will ensure that individual education plans are set and reviewed to implement strategies for children, young people who require extra support and will also apply for EHCP’S ( educational health care plans ). • Teachers It is the teacher’s responsibility to plan and prepare lessons set by the curriculum. They will also communicate with parents, the headteacher, SENCO, other members of staff and outside bodies such as a CPO and DTCP. The teacher must teach according to the needs of the children and record and report their progress. They will also be supervising the teaching assistants and learning support assistants. Teachers may also be a subject leader or part of the Senior Leadership Team. Teachers should be aware of curriculum changes and developments and attend staff
