I first became inspired to become a teacher by one of my teachers at St. Andrews Primary. He made learning fun, and supported every child individually. Furthermore, he ensured everyone could achieve their full potential. I believe primary school teaching is essential as it influences a child's development from a young age, giving them knowledge, understanding and confidence to be able to move forward and advance in life. Having a passion for children's education, I expanded my knowledge by completing a preparing for teaching course at college which lasted for 13 weeks where I acquired skills and knowledge which are important for teaching the national curriculum. As part of this I took a placement at Ings Primary working with students 6-9 years old learning daily routines and learning profession. During this experience, I shadowed many staff members, observing teaching techniques and the ways in which they support different individuals. I found there were many challenges to tackle - such as having different levels of understanding meaning certain children may need more guidance and I adapted my skills to overcome these. …show more content…

I learned that I am a very good listener and advanced with communication (verbal and non-verbal). This will help me in a Primary School setting as it will allow me to gain children's trust and encourage them to learn. In addition, this helped me gain more confidence as I could understand the children on their level. I am able to work as part of a team and independently allowing me to become proficient at dividing up tasks so they are done by the most qualified people. This will therefore ensure the best education for all
