Wars have existed since humans appeared. Their character has changed, concerning weapons, scale, objectives, means and tactics. Among the common reason for starting war are territory, political, ethnical, religious ideas, money and desire for power. Some countries wage a war to get independence, some to conquer others. However, what about the nature of a war?
I want to help young students come to that conclusion also. I want to create an interactive, engaged classroom where students can fully understand the lessons being taught and how they apply to real life. As an educator I want to inspire in students an excitement for learning and the value accomplishing true knowledge in a subject. Naturally, throughout my academic career, I have observed many teachers and have been exposed to a wide variety of teaching techniques.
What do you currently teach and where? I am a December graduate of the University of Charleston. I graduated magna cum laude. After graduation I began substituting. I substituted at a variety of schools in Kanawha County in a variety of grades.
The purpose of academia is to provide a firm foundation for children in the areas of scholastics, self-awareness and community. As the educator, I will facilitate and provide opportunities for students to establish this foundation by instructing a student- centered curriculum as well as allowing the students to learn from other stimuli. I will strive to ensure that each student leaves my classroom with improvement in the three areas of schooling. I believe that teachers should have a passion toward their students' welfare including the students’ scholastic standings.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I knew it would be challenging, but rewarding with many benefits to come. But no one ever told me it can result in me getting sued. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I was on my way to finishing up my teaching certification. The following school year I was set to start student teaching, but everything changed when the Superintendent of my old Middle School offered me position teaching math.
I believe that students learn best when they engaged in the classroom. I know that my way of teaching will receive positive feedback from students. As a teacher it is important to create a supportive learning environment. One way I can create this learning environment is to teach lessons that go beyond the classroom.
For the three and a half years I’ve been in high school, I have heard many opinions about teacher. Some being suggestions to a underclassman, review of the teacher, and some being very detail rants about a teacher. After hearing about those teacher, I wonder if a student should be allowed to give a grade to a teacher. I think that students giving rating or grades to a teacher is a good thing for many reasons. One of these things include, helping parents with young kids find schools with good teachers.
Using a textbook to its best advantage seems to be overlooked when we prepare for teaching. I believe there is a place for textbooks, facts, and even lectures in different subjects or level of students. I have noticed that many really don't know what to do with a textbook. They have learned a great deal about cooperative learning, using technology in the classroom, and designing rubrics. While those are good things to know, some traditional classroom techniques are also important.
My vision for the teaching profession as a whole is to instill a desire to learn within my students. This learning process is not just consist of academic content but includes the content of using good morals, being positive, persistent, and other characteristics to help one to be successful in society and fulfilling their life’s purpose. I am currently a head start lead teacher in a preschool classroom. I teach children from three to five years old. I am currently working with the preschool curriculum high scope. As a teacher I would like to increase my best practice in mathematics in the classroom setting. When I plan for my lesson plans as a teacher I always plan for language and literacy and science.
As a girl, I would play school with my group of friends and I would always take the role of a teacher. And through my educational career, I continued to take roles revolving assisting students as a mentor, tutor, and teaching assistant. Through these roles and as a student, I had the privilege to be around teaching professionals that inspired and motivated students to pursue higher education to make a contribution to our society in a positive way. To me, those teachers are my superheroes and the reason to why I want to become a teacher, I first-hand experience the impact they have made through teaching.
If you plan on being a teacher when you grow up there are a couple of requirements to do so. If you can’t do your job well, your student won’t be ready for the next year, and if your students aren't ready for the next year the teacher has done a poor job. • Teachers: To me teachers are the main factor that influences and impacts student learning. Creating a professional relationship between teachers and learners, will maintain boundaries, which will mean the teacher will be respected, and seen as a gentle person, who cares about her students, but still has a certain amount of authority to her or him. There should be a continues recruitment for teachers who are effective, capable of handling pressure and managing difficult classes, as well as dealing with students who does not have the same life values, or behaviour patterns, as well as the necessary skills to make the students strive to achieve of what they are capable of academically, socially as well as culturally. The teacher should have an excellent understanding of what the set curriculum entails, as well as what is expected of them, as a teacher.
The teachers, being the focal figure in education, must be competent and knowledgeable in order to impart the knowledge they could give to their students. Good teaching is a very personal manner. Effective teaching is concerned with the student as a person and with his general development. The teacher must recognize individual differences among his/her students and adjust instructions that best suit to the learners. It is always a fact that as educators, we play varied and vital roles in the classroom.
My prime directive as a teacher is to empower my students to live satisfying and productive lives. I want to help them develop three sets of skills — interpersonal, organizational and communication — that will help them in every profession and all areas of life. As a teacher, I get to teach someone else’s young adult child about the world and show them how to navigate it. My goal is to positively impact their lives and make them feel good about themselves while also teaching them English and debate. I genuinely enjoy being with them and especially love the most difficult of all ages — namely, 18+ teenagers.
