Spending late nights grading, dealing with parents, a teacher’s salary isn’t sufficient for the broad job descriptions they are responsible to meet. Although it takes someone with a loving heart to be a teacher, they are suppose to teach what will become of the future. Therefore wouldn’t they have the most important job? In addition to be a successful teacher, first teachers have to go school themselves. Moreover after comparing South Texas College, Texas State University and University of Rio Grande Valley based on my criteria of tuition cost,location, and strength of program, University of Rio Grande Valley would be my best choice in helping me pursue a career in interdisciplinary studies.

All teachers should strive for what can be considered to be a “good teacher.” A good teacher can be defined as someone who a pushes their students to do their best while at the same time trying to make learning interesting and fun. Being positive or negative a teacher can have a great effect on the life of a child. Teachers, especially at the elementary schools, must be very creative with their teaching styles. Not every child learns the same way. Teachers must be knowledgeable a range of studies, but must also comprehend how to present more topics to elementary aged school students. Teachers must know different ways to teach due to not all the kids learn the same, some kids are visual , aural, verbal, and physical learners. “Kindergarten and elementary school teachers work during school hours, they often spend time grading and preparing for lessons” (Bureau Labor of Statistics). They are many opportunities to advance in teaching, many teachers become school Counselors, social workers, athletic coaches, administrators and principal. During student teaching, they work with a mentor teacher and get experience teaching students in a classroom setting. To become a teacher a four year degree is needed “bachelor’s degree” and a state certification license is needed. Obtaining a elementary school certification proves that a teacher has the experience to positively impact the lives of his or her students.
