I want to be a teacher because I want to help children learn in new, innovative ways. I want to help the less fortunate children thrive in schools, instead of overlooking them and flaming the fire to their failure.
I believe the purpose of education is to teach children life skills they will need to be successful in their society, whether that be going into the workforce or further their education after graduation. They should have a basic knowledge of our United States history, the English language we speak and the current issues going on in the world today.
I believe children learn best by a humanistic approach within the classroom because one cannot learn unless they fully believe they are able. For a child to want to learn, they need to have some type of rewarding feeling that follows, intrinsically or extrinsically. A humanist …show more content…

It would be my role to fill my classroom with only encouraging words to help better the student in the long run and will enforce the honest, open environment throughout the entire classroom. Offering advice to students who are struggling to achieve their goals, inside or outside of the classroom builds a relationship between the students and myself, which I believe is the most important step to having a learning environment. Opening my time to get to know my students allows myself to build trust and help the students want to learn in my classroom. This also allows me to develop better ways to make real-life connections in my lesson plans. My role as a teacher is to evaluate the students, individually and as a whole, by how much they progress throughout the year and turn that into an assessment of how I am doing as an educator.
