I am currently employed as a substitute teacher for the Richland School District, located in Shafter, CA. I have been a substitute teacher for about six months and it has been a great experience which is one reason why I want to continue my career and get my teaching credentials.
I am interested in becoming a Physical Education teacher so I can make a difference in children’s lives. I am choosing to pursue teaching as a profession because I know I can leave a positive impact on children. Being around sports and physical fitness has given me the motivation and knowledge to teach children the importance of maintaining active and healthy. I am thankful to have a great support system. My family encouraged me to apply to this graduate school so I can further my education. Graduating from college has taught me how to balance school, family, and work. My plans on how to have a successful outcome when being in the graduate program is by having strategies. I know that doing my graduate program online will be difficult because procrastination is well-known to many of us so I plan on having set schedules on when to do school work and eliminating distractions. Another strategy that I plan on doing is asking for help from my support system. Whether it be my family members, colleagues, or professors, I have learned that it is OK to ask for help when needed. Time management is an important strategy I do plan on implementing with work, school, hobbies, and family. Lastly, self-care is an important factor to be successful in graduate school. I want to continue to take care of my physical and mental health by exercising regularly and getting enough sleep while keeping up with my schoolwork. I know that at times my strategies will not go as I plan them to go but I know that with my support system and the effort I put into my schooling, I will succeed. I believe that every child deserves to have access to quality education. Getting to know each student is a great way to promote an inclusive environment and get to know their cultural backgrounds. Having a safe and welcoming environment will play an important role that I will implement when I have my classroom. Along with making sure that all students are participating, working together, and having different learning methods that will help promote an inclusive environment.
