What do you currently teach and where?

I am a December graduate of the University of Charleston. I graduated magna cum laude. After graduation I began substituting. I substituted at a variety of schools in Kanawha County in a variety of grades. In March 2017, I was asked to do a long term substitute position at Dunbar Intermediate for a fourth grade classroom. I finished the out the year there, and I am now looking for my very own classroom.

What is your favorite subject to teach?

My favorite subject to personally teach is math. Math has always been my strong suit in school and it is something that all students need to know if the future. It is amazing to watch the growth of the students from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. The transformation I seen in my students at Dunbar was incredible. …show more content…

I am applying at Kanawha City Elementary in hopes to find my future classroom. I have always enjoyed my placements during school that I had in fifth grade. I am the type of teacher that wants to help all students learn and grow. I am flexible and have the ability to change my lesson if I know it's not working. Being a recent graduate, I have fresh ideas, experience from substituting and placements, and knowledge about how to teach a class. I personally like the hands on approach when it comes to learning, because I feel that students enjoy learning through hands- on activities, group work, and "games" rather than a constant lecture. My main reason for applying is to help students get the education they need so they can succeed in their following years of education and their adult
