“Teaching in the Internet age means we must teach tomorrow’s skills today.” declare Jennifer Fleming, a professor of a technological institute. It is believed that having the opportunity and chance to use technology while studying brings more excitement to education. Over these past five years, students and teachers have respectively been able to receive and provide education in its most advanced ways thanks to technology. In his essay, Postman believes that finding more information on the internet than in schools sounds “outlandish”. However, researches such as Honey Margaret’s in the article “Technology Has Improved Education” show that, based on the improvement made so far, increasing numbers of teachers and sources providers offer reliable and relevant information on the internet. Lurking around the library for hours to find a book or an article that would be helpful the student’s assignment requires time and more efforts. Fewer people claim that there is more information on the Internet that could be helpful. We could agree that plenty of reliable sources is provided online so that the student can carefully and quickly find and use them, if needed. Honey Margaret declares that increasing numbers of information are being provided through the internet since “a tremendous growth in the range of archival materials that are available on the web has been noticed over these past ten years”. Museums and libraries offer archives online that allow the student to make deeper and clearer researches without having to expand the effort of a library search. It is indeed true and undeniable that kids, teenagers and even adults are unfortunately getting addicted to technology. Nonetheless, there is furthermore a special category of the society that are undoubtedly gaining beneficial help thanks to technology. People suffering from disabilities are more than able to participate in the education without having to struggle as they did before. Nirvi Shah gives a powerful example in the article named “Students with Disabilities Benefit from Digital Books”. In fact, electronical copies of books are provided to disabled students which helped them catch up with the reading session thus help them learn and improve their reading skills thanks to that technological improvement. This demonstrates the accuracy of technology having pejorative effects on people’s habits and/or culture but it is definitely one of the most helpful and useful tool to provide education to those that may not be entirely able to obtain it.
