In the Brave New World, Huxley describes a society that uses technology to control its citizens. During the 1980’s a man named Neil Postman worried that the television was a step towards Huxley’s vision. In today’s society we have new forms of technology to keep us entertained that is revealed almost every day. Almost everyone in this first world countries have some form of entertainment, whether that’s TV, video games, or even your phone. These new forms of entertainment as well as older forms all contribute to furthering a future society that matches Huxley’s nightmare. The first from of technology that contributes to a society that matches the World States was created over 70 years ago. TV and movies help start the goal to find new ways to entertain people. Over the years TV and movies have started to put more and more sexual content into movies. It is nearly impossible now to find a movie that is Pg that does not have some kind of sexual innuendo. It is ever rarer to find a Pg-13 movie that does not at least nod to two people having sex before marriage. In the World state they condition everyone to be okay with having sex with whoever. The Internet allows us to buy anything we want with the touch of a button. In the Brave New World when the people wanted stuff, they were given it. At one-point John threw lots of soma out a window and the government came in and gave the Deltas more soma to replace the amount that was lost out the window (Huxley 215). With the internet you can buy anything you want and get it the next day. Amazon has been experimenting with drones in order to have people’s orders delivered to them within the first few hours of them ordering it. In the near future I see a society where the instant you order an item you want it will be at your door because everyone gets what they want when the want
