Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury shows the protagonist trapped in a dystopian society. The book takes place in the future, in a town in the United States of America. Guy Montag is the main character in the story and his job is to burn books in his society. As Montag develops throughout the story, he meets other intellectual people like him, who want to treasure books, not destroy them. There are characters opposite of Montag, characters like his wife Mildred who is glued to her television screen. From the contrast between Montag and the people around him it is evident that the advancement in technology can impair a society. The first incident that sparks this topic is the scene in which Mildred and her friends were watching television in front of Montag. Mildred and her friends kept their sentences short and concise, repeating themselves almost every sentence. All the women spoke like robots, this can show how technology is affecting their way to speak. They explained how they voted the president by looks, and judging their physique. Montag is represented as the intellectual and the Hound is the example of death and destruction. Ray Bradbury did a marvelous job creating this robot, especially the way The Hound injects poisons in his victims. A great comparison to modern society to The Hound is a gun, both great advancements but it damages society. The Hound represents the brutal truth of the government, this is because the government gave The Hound no control of his body. This is similar with the citizens of this dystopian society because they have no control on what they can do. To sum up, The Hound is the best representation of the theme, an amazing technology but for the wrong reason, and that's how it damages this
