“Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master,” said Christian Lous Lange. Technology has its perks, but overall, it is impacting our society for the worse. Technology is constantly becoming more advanced, and with this, it is becoming more addicting. Technology can be helpful in many situations, but if you let technology consume you, you will be lost without it. Technology can also impact our mental health in a negative way. All of the technology is working just as it is programmed to, even though a nuclear bomb had eliminated everything around it, including the people that lived there. The house still read the date in the morning, cooked breakfast, filled bath tubs and set up decks of playing cards, even though there were no people there. What this shows us is that technology is only as smart as the people who programmed it. The house had no idea there were no people in it because it was not programmed to realize that. Technology has a negative effect on mental health to the point where it can become a serious issue in the long run. Did you know that the repeated use of bright screens over the course of five nights can delay your body’s clock by approximately one and a half hours (Johnson)? The fact that technology can be addicting does not help this matter. Technology is more detrimental to our society than helpful, and over a long period of time, it is going to do more damage than
