The past few decades have witnessed an overwhelming proliferation of technology in every aspect of our lives and language education is no exception to this. The use of technology in its varied forms inside and outside language classrooms is becoming a norm rather than an exception across various educational institutions. This widespread use of technology in education has manifested itself in various forms, via the Internet through multimedia learning, online learning, web-based learning, and information and communications technology (ICT). ICT involves the use of different types of hardware and software systems for storing, retrieving, processing, communicating, diffusing, accessing and sharing of useful information in an optimized way. ICT in ELT has a great impact specially to improve language skills (LSRW).
Language learning process is no longer confined to books and pages; rather computers have been added to the field of education. In Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) teachers can challenge the traditional teaching and learning methods by incorporating computer technology into language teaching process.
Teaching and learning through Technology is a resource designed for both elementary level as well as tertiary level teachers and students to help them incorporate Web 2.0 tools i.e. Blogs, Wikis, podcasts, …show more content…
