Neuromancer is a science fiction novel written by American – Canadian writer William Gibson. It’s considered to be one of the best-known works of the cyberpunk genre and the first novel to win the Nebula Award, the Philip K.Dick award and the Hugo Award according to an interview with William Gibson conducted by Larry McCaffery and Wikipedia.
The novel it self was first published in 1984 it takes place in what was considered the future at that time in a setting named cyberpunk. According to Merriam Webster dictionary Cyberpunk is “science fiction dealing with future urban societies dominated by computer technology”. Case takes part in a multiple crimes of data hacking for his new boss. His first job entitled stealing a digital copy of the mind of Pauley with the help of Molly and Riviera. Pauley is considered to be an excellent hacker who originally has taught case most of what he knows. They conduct this crime just to help them in preforming their upcoming job.
After preforming their digital copy crime, the group will travel to Freeside. Freseside is considered to be a luxury resort and casino for the upscale clienteles. Their next mission entitles breaking into Villa Straylight, which is located in Freeside and is the home to Tessier-Ashpool to hack into Wintermute, a powerful artificial intelligence machine.
Henry Dorsett Case, A.K.A Cutter, is a character in the novel that’s trying to get his old life back. Before the events of Neuromancer take place Case was fired by his previous employer for stealing and as a punishment he was poisoned which rendered him as useless since he can’t access the cyberspace known as the Matrix. Not being able to gain control of that privilege has destroyed him which caused depression to cast it’s shadow on him and suicidal thoughts are taking over his mid which makes sense since where he lives is a place where “death is the accepted for laziness, carelessness,
