In September of 1975 Ted Bundy sells his Volkswagen Beetle to a local teenager in Sal Lake City, but the police impounded it and FBI technicians and a forensic team dismantled and searched the entire car. This would be a major mistake by Bundy as Police find hairs matching samples from Caryn Campbell’s body. They also identify hair strands from those of Melissa Smith and Carol DaRonch. Starting to not look good for Ted Bundy, police had little to no evidence and now with his impounded car they discovered very curial evidence. October 2, 1975 Bundy is positioned in a lineup before DaRonch, who immediately identifies Bundy as the officer that tried to kidnap her. Witnesses from Debra Kent’s high school auditorium also selected Bundy in the same lineup, as the stranger prowling about the high school auditorium. Very sufficient evidence connected him to Debra Kent’s murder, but more then enough evidence for the aggravated kidnapping and attempted criminal assault of Carol DaRonch.
