One of the most active and evil American serial killers of the 1970’s was Theodore Robert Cowell, who was referred to as “Ted Bundy”. He was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont to a 22 year old unwed mother named Eleanor Louise Cowell . Due to her religious parents and the pressures of social norm about illegitimate children, Eleanor returned to Philadelphia to live and raise Ted with her parents. It was with in this time that Ted was told his grandparents were his real parents, and that his mother was his sister. Eventually Elenor Cowell and Ted moved to Washington, where she met and married Johnny Bundy. Ted was formally adopted by Johnny Bundy and his Surname was changed to “ Bundy”. Bundy’s unusual behavior started to flourish at a young age. As bright as he was, yet shy, his acts included stealing, peeping through windows, and pornography. During the extensive investigation process and interviews, Bundy would continually speak in circles about the murders. Bundy would mostly use the 3rd person speech pattern and was constantly fighting his sentence. Even during his final moments to the electric chair, he is said to have confessed to more killings. After being on death row for 10 years, Bundy was finally scheduled to be executed on January 24, 1989. During his last interview on the eve of his execution, Ted Bundy admitted his crimes were due to his addiction to hard core pornography. According to Bundy, it was this addiction that “in the beginning fuels this kind of thought process” and then “ it is instrumental in crystallizing it”. On the morning of January 24th, at 7:06 a.m. Bundy was executed by the electric chair while the crowd outside cheered “Burn, Bundy Burn”! This would end the era of this gruesome killer, the monster who went from state to state killing innocent
